Why Are Hairy Chests Coming Out Of Style?

Once upon a time, our most iconic role models such as Tom Selleck, Robin Williams, and Sean Connery were worshipped for their hairy bodies. Now it’s all about them shredded abs and fully shaved bodies.

So, how did things suddenly change? Well simply put, things normally change over time regardless. For example how many fashion trends have changed since the 1970s compared to now.

The change from hairy chests to fully shaved chests started around the 2000s. This idea was mainly influenced by media, and one theory also suggests that this movement was executed in order to close the gap between men and women.

You see women have suffered the tyranny of obsessive physical maintenance for years. Now, it seems that they are trying to get men to follow the same maintenance criteria forced on women by society.

Why Are Hairy Chests So Attractive?

Women Find This More Attractive

1. Signal To Women That You Are Very Masculine

The most important reason why many women love chest hair is because of a very special hormone called testosterone.

Testosterone signifies to women that a man has high levels of testosterone. Testosterone is linked with greater muscle gains, better bone structure, deeper voice, and most importantly better sex drive. All of which, make women want to jump on you.

2. Shows Women That You are Confident

Many men fall victim to adjusting themselves to society’s norms and wishes. This could show a lack of confidence, which is very unattractive.

However, when there is a man rocking some chest hair, he is signaling to everyone around himself that he just doesn’t care about the current hair trends, and what Brad Pitt is doing. He is just embracing his God-given beauty. And women appreciate that.

3. Women Love To Play With Chest Hair

When she’s got a guy with a firm fuzzy set of hair on his chest, she’s not going to mind playing with it, running her fingers through it, or even putting her head on your chest for the comfort of it.

Why Do Some Women Find Chest Hair Unattractive?

Women don’t find this attractive

1. It’s Unhygienic

Some people contribute body hair to being very sweaty and smelly.

This is due to the belief that densely packed hair is much harder to wash out the bacteria. (The hairier the chest hair the higher chance for odeur as the bacteria hides out in a forest of hair)

2. Women Don’t Like the Feel Of Chest Hair

Some women prefer the clean hairless feel of a man’s body. It’s nothing that you can change, some women can’t get used to the look or feel of a little hair on a man’s chest.

A hairy chest used to be a sign of true masculinity. But a new survey has revealed that one in seven British men now regularly remove their chest hair.

But it really doesn’t matter if you have subtle hair or full-blown chest hair. One major contributing factor to whether women would find you attractive with hair. Is how well you keep yourself groomed. A majority of women find poor grooming habits unattractive.

How Do I Get a Smooth Chest?

Removing your chest hair in the wrong way can make your chest hair look and feel very unpleasant.

So, let’s assume that your girlfriend or the girl you dating doesn’t like chest hair. Before you start ripping your chest hair right off your body. Find out here what the best method for removing your chest hair is. Is it waxing, trimming, or shaving?

Trimming

Trimming your chest hair is really the best of both worlds. Simply because you can shorten your hair to any length you want, as well as maintaining the natural growth direction of your chest hair. So it won’t grow out prickly and hard.

Shaving

It is absolutely a myth that shaving hair makes it grow more and thicker. But however, I wouldn’t recommend it, if you are either in a relationship or have plans with sleeping with a woman soon.

It takes 2-3 weeks for shaved chest hair to grow out

The reason being is that there may be some discomfort when the hair grows back such as razor burn. If you shave it improperly it will also leave your chest hair looking prickly and sharp which can be very irritating for a woman.

Waxing

Waxing is perfect for those that want to rock their beach bodies without worrying too much about when their hair would grow back.

The positive about waxing is that it actually helps the hair grow back thinner and slower.

It takes around 5-6 weeks for waxed chest hair to start growing out.

However, the negative part about waxing your chest is that it can be very painful due to the density of the hair in that area.

Conclusion

Watching jacked movie stars rock it with their perfectly groomed bodies used to make me contemplate getting my razor and ripping my whole body hair off.

It surely does affect the way we perceive ourselves when we see our favorite actor shirtless on Tv. We see a part of ourselves in them. Hence we fall to the conclusion that we would look exactly like them if we shave.

But it’s not all greek gods and wonders when we shave our chest hair and body hair. There are many realities that you have to know about before you ought to shave your chest hair.

The problem with shaving your chest hair

  2. If you shave it in the wrong way, it could come out very bad and prickly. Which is a huge turn-off for women.
  3. Many countries such as my own country see shaving your body hair as very feminine. Therefore you may get a lot of people judging you.

Final chest hair advice

  1. Women like little to medium amounts of chest hair on a man. Too much chest hair can be a turn-off for a woman.
  2. Try to stay groomed. Check up and trim your chest hair at least once a week.
  3. Wash your body adequately when you have chest hair. More hair on your body means that more excess sweat is going to stay on it. So make sure you are showering after you come home from a long day at work.
